Autumnal sun lit up Gertrude Jekyll’s Munstead Wood house and garden at a special reception organised by its new custodians, the National Trust, on 25th October. The beautiful house, built in 1896 with the combined genius of Gertrude Jekyll and Edward Lutyens, lies within one of the few remaining gardens created by this famously influential garden designer. Local residents and groups, local National Trust supporters and the great and good of the gardening world reveled in the opportunity to explore the oak-drenched house and luscious gardens. The National Trust has established a home team to look after this gem of a property and is warmly welcoming involvement from anyone interested.
