Wandering the Swan Barn Farm meadows

Posted On: 25/06/2025

Andy Swan led a group of enthusiastic Black Down & Hindhead National Trust Supporters through the tranquil meadows of Swan Barn Farm on a sunny June Sunday.  A stone’s throw from Haslemere High Street, just past the old town well, pretty assemblages of wild flowers give an indication of the varied underlying geology and ground conditions found here, as well as the absence of pesticides and fertilisers since in National Trust ownership.  The day ended with an impressive list of plant species and smiling faces.  Our thanks to Dr Andy Swan, President of the Haslemere Natural History Society, for sharing his knowledge of the site and its wildflowers.
