Events
The Black Down and Hindhead Supporters Committee runs a programme of public events each year, which are offered free or at a reduced cost to our members.
We also support a number of other events organised by the local National Trust teams and local affiliated community groups. If you are considering hosting an event to support the National Trust, do get in touch. We will publish updates to all featured events as they become available.
2026 Springtime guided bird walk on Black Down

Another chance for a springtime walk across beautiful Black Down in search of some of its special birds when they are in full song – with the expert help of a local guide, Paul Matson.

2026 AGM and Annual Educate and Inspire Lecture - Beavers
Thurs 11th June evening

Ben Morris, Senior Field Officer for the Beaver Trust will be giving a national perspective to our local beaver re-introduction with a talk about the Beaver Trust’s strategic work. Local National Trust ranger, Dave Elliott will give an update on our own beavers, reintroduced to Black Down in 2021, a project made possible with substantial funds raised by the Supporters.

Punch Bowl Challenges
Spring 2026

Black Down & Hindhead Supporters of the National Trust is working with local runners to put on another in the popular Punch Bowl Challenge events. Funds raised from the event will be split between the local National Trust estates and local schools.

2026 Funky Fungus Walk

Join a local fungus enthusiast on a hunt for the cryptic and the spectacular fungi as they emerge from the ground and from the trees this autumn.
Guided Wildlife Walks

The Committee is organising more guided wildlife walks in 2026 for anyone who knows and loves the local National Trust sites around Haslemere and wants to discover more about them.

Photographic Competition 2026

The Black Down and Hindhead Supporters of the National Trust Committee runs a competition for the best photos taken of or from the National Trust properties around Hindhead and Haslemere. The full list of eligible sites is included in the rules (download here)
The next competition will be in 2026, giving photographers plenty of time to explore the local sites and capture their favourite moments.
