Haslemere Charities Fair

Members of the Committee enjoyed meeting many of the hundreds of people who attended the Haslemere Charities Fair in November 2025 at Haslemere Hall.  Visitors to our stand were intrigued by the little chips of wood we had brought along – gnawed from stream-side trees by the beavers who now reside in Valewood, carefully tending their elaborate dams and creating wonderful ponds and wetland habitat.  As well as enriching the wetland plant communities, dragonflies and other aquatic life, the water being held higher in the catchment reduces the risks of flooding downstream.   The Supporters raised a staggering £60,000 for the Wilder Valewood project which enabled the beaver reintroduction initiative to proceed when many others were stalled as a result of the Covid pandemic.
